Chasm is a powerful cinematic sound library for the free Soundbox player, built around vast, echoing, chasm-type textures.

Inside you’ll find 28 presets, all designed with scale, depth and an expansive cinematic character:

Born From Real-World Resonance

Many of the core sounds within Chasm began life during a recent visit to Lake Annecy in the south of France.

While travelling on a pleasure boat around the lake, something caught my attention. Each time the boat approached a dock, the engine and braking system produced extraordinary mechanical tones - deep metallic groans, resonant low-end rumbles and textured harmonic vibrations that felt almost cavernous in scale. As the boat slowed and engaged its braking system, the structure would resonate with rich, industrial character. So I grabbed my field recorder and captured it!

Those raw recordings have been sculpted, stretched, processed and transformed into the expansive pads, bass foundations and cinematic effects that form the backbone of Chasm. The result is a library that feels immense and immersive, yet grounded in authentic acoustic detail.

Every preset shares the same sonic DNA: cinematic, expansive and immersive. These are dimensional textures designed to fill space, create tension and instantly establish atmosphere.

Whether you're scoring dark ambient pieces, trailer beds, dramatic underscore or atmospheric sound design, Chasm delivers immediate depth without complexity. Simply load a preset and the space opens beneath you.

The Soundbox interface makes it easy to shape your sound. Each layer is fully adjustable with ADSR, effects, modulation, arpeggiator, and a versatile vector pad for morphing through layers with various vector shapes. Plus, you can quickly tweak volume, panning, and solo/mute layers on the main page, giving you total control to sculpt the soundscapes to suit your project. Once you've perfected your setup, save your unique presets using the intuitive and easy to use browser.

Adding new packs to Soundbox is a breeze! Head to the User Sounds menu, enter the preset and pack manager, click Import, and select the downloaded Soundbox Pack (.sbpack file) and you're done!
