A Passion for Sound Design
Hi, I'm Jon, the person behind Kompose Audio.
I started Kompose Audio for a fairly simple reason. I wanted to create the kind of virtual instruments that I would genuinely love to use myself. Sounds that inspire you, make you stop what you're doing and give you that little spark of excitement that makes you want to sit down and create something.
I've been making music for over 30 years and working with virtual instruments for more than 15, but that feeling has never really changed. There's still something magical about discovering a sound that takes you somewhere unexpected. Sometimes a single sound is all it takes to turn a blank project into a new piece of music.
Everything at Kompose Audio is created here in my studio in the Devon countryside. It's a small, independent business, and I personally spend countless hours experimenting with synthesisers, recording instruments, exploring unusual sounds and turning those ideas into playable instruments for Soundbox, Raizes and Kontakt.
Some become beautiful, evolving soundscapes. Others become strings, choirs, unusual textures or simple, expressive instruments. There's no grand formula behind it. I tend to follow my curiosity and see where it takes me.
What started as my own passion for creating sounds has become something much more meaningful, thanks to the people who use them.
The feedback I've received from customers around the world has been truly incredible. I regularly hear from musicians, composers and people who simply love making music, telling me how they've used my instruments, what they've created with them and, sometimes, how a particular sound has inspired them to make music when they were struggling to find inspiration. I honestly can't tell you how much those messages mean to me.

Knowing that something I've created here in my little studio in Devon has found its way into somebody else's music, perhaps on the other side of the world, is a wonderful feeling. Whether it's being used in a film, a television production, a game, an ambient composition or simply for the pleasure of making music at home, it really doesn't matter. Every creative journey is important. And it's a genuine pleasure and an honour to be a small part of yours.
It's also reinforced something I feel very strongly about. Music and creativity can make a real difference to people's lives. You don't have to be a professional composer, have an expensive studio or be working on a big project. Sometimes just sitting down, playing a few notes and losing yourself in the process is enough.
And that's really what I want Kompose Audio to be about. I want to make inspiring, affordable instruments that are enjoyable to use, that encourage experimentation and perhaps help you discover something new about your own creativity. If one of my instruments helps you finish a piece of music, explore a new direction, rediscover your enthusiasm or simply enjoy an hour making sounds, then I feel I've achieved something worthwhile.
I'm still learning, still experimenting and still getting excited about new ideas, just as I always have. And I hope that never changes.
Kompose Audio might be something I've created, but it's the people using these instruments who give it its real meaning.
So, whether you've been with me from the beginning, have purchased dozens of instruments or have only just discovered Kompose Audio, thank you. Thank you for your support, your encouragement, your wonderful feedback and, above all, for allowing me to be a small part of your creative journey.
It genuinely means the world to me.
All the very best,
Jon
