Hi, I’m Jon - the person behind Kompose Audio.

I started Kompose Audio for a simple reason: I wanted to make the kind of instruments I would genuinely want to use myself. I’ve spent over 30 years making music and more than 15 years working with virtual instruments, but I’m still excited by the same thing - finding a sound that stops me in my tracks and makes me want to create.

Everything is made from my studio in the Devon countryside. Most products begin with me following an idea, recording a synth or acoustic instrument, or experimenting with a sound simply to see where it leads. I keep exploring until it has its own character and feels useful in a real piece of music.

I create libraries for Soundbox, Raizes and Kontakt, ranging from evolving ambient soundscapes to strings, choirs and expressive playable instruments. Whatever I’m making, my aim is the same: it should be inspiring, enjoyable to use and affordable.

One of the best parts of Kompose Audio is hearing from musicians around the world and discovering where these instruments end up - in film scores, television, games, ambient music, meditation and personal projects. Every message, review and piece of music shared with me helps shape what I create next.

Kompose Audio is always evolving, and I’m still experimenting, learning and following new ideas wherever they take me. Thanks for being here and becoming part of the story.
