How to Install Your Kompose Audio Kontakt Product
IMPORTANT:
To use our Kontakt instruments you must be using the full paid version of Kontakt - they will not work in the free Kontakt Player.
How to Load Kompose Audio Kontakt Products
You can load Kompose Audio Kontakt products in one of three ways:
- Add the product to Kontakt’s main Library Browser - recommended (instructions below).
- Load the .nki files via the Files tab (in Kontakt 8 you must be in Classic View with Side Pane enabled).
- Drag and drop the .nki files directly into Kontakt.
Each method is explained below.
Your product has been compressed into a ZIP file. Before you can use your product, you will need to unzip the file you downloaded.
How to Unzip a ZIP File
Mac
- Double-click the ZIP file to unzip it.
Windows PC
- To extract a single file: open the ZIP folder and drag the file to a new location.
- To extract everything: right-click the ZIP folder, select Extract All, and follow the instructions.
Option 1 (preferred method). Add the Product to Kontakt’s Main Library Browser
Adding your Kompose Audio product to the main Library Browser makes loading instruments much quicker - you won’t need to open each .nki file manually every time.
Works for Kontakt 7 and Kontakt 8.
Add the Product
- Open Kontakt.
- Click the Import Content icon in the bottom-left corner.
- Click Add.
- Navigate to the main product folder (the one containing all the .nki files). For example, for Grenadier, select the folder named Grenadier.
- Click Open. Kontakt will import the product.
Add the Kontakt Images
Watch the video below for instructions.
Inside your product download you’ll find a folder called Kontakt Images.
Inside that is another folder with the product’s name (e.g., grenadier).
Copy that folder into the following location:
Windows:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image
Mac:
Users/Shared/NI Resources/image
Restart
Close and re-open Kontakt.
Your Kompose Audio product will now appear in the Library Browser with the correct artwork.
Option 2. Loading Presets from the Files Tab
- Click Files at the top of Kontakt.
- In the browser below, navigate to the folder where the product is stored on your system.
- Select the folder - you will see the .nki files appear underneath.
- Double-click any .nki file to load it.
Option 3. Drag and Drop the .nki Files
You can also load instruments by dragging them directly into Kontakt:
- Drag any .nki file into the main instrument area on the right.
- Or simply double-click the .nki file to load it.
Both methods will load the instrument instantly.
