Soundbox 1.2 Update Is Here With Powerful New Features and Linux Support!

Audiomodern have released Soundbox version 1.2 for macOS, Windows, iPadOS, and Linux, and it’s an exciting update that brings meaningful new creative tools, smoother workflows, and broader platform support.

This latest version continues to refine Soundbox as a modern, flexible instrument platform, with several new features designed to speed up composition, improve sound design control, and enhance overall stability.

What’s New in Soundbox 1.2

One of the standout additions in version 1.2 is the new Chords Generator tab, a dedicated space for creating and experimenting with chords, making harmonic work faster and more intuitive.

Vector-based sound design also receives a welcome upgrade. A new Vector section now allows vector movement to be enabled or disabled on a per-layer basis, giving you finer control over motion and blending. On top of this, the Vector tab now uses equal-power fades, resulting in smoother and more natural transitions between layers.

Sound designers will also appreciate improvements to velocity layering. You can now drag and drop multiple samples directly into the Sample Editor to automatically create multi-velocity layers, streamlining what was previously a more manual process.

Creative tools continue to expand with the addition of a new library of arpeggiator patterns, offering fresh rhythmic and melodic inspiration straight out of the box.

Alongside these features, Audiomodern have fixed a wide range of bugs in this release, improving overall stability and reliability across supported systems.

Linux Support Has Arrived

Even more exciting is the addition of Linux support. With Soundbox 1.2, the free Soundbox player now runs on Linux, opening the platform up to an even wider community of composers and producers working outside traditional macOS, Windows and iPadOS environments.

Final Thoughts

Soundbox 1.2 is a strong, forward-looking update that balances creative expansion with important workflow and performance improvements. Whether you’re already deep into Soundbox or considering it for the first time, this release makes the platform more powerful, more accessible, and more enjoyable to use.
