Designed for the free Soundbox player, this instrument features 7 fully playable presets and 3 arpeggiation presets, making it a versatile addition to any composer's toolkit.

With 835 meticulously recorded raw samples, Symphonic Viola delivers an authentic, heartfelt sound, perfect for orchestral scoring, film composition, and emotive music production. Each preset is built with four voice layers, each corresponding to a different mic position, allowing for ultimate flexibility in mixing and spatial depth.

Symphonic Viola brings the soul of the viola to your music, offering expressive realism for film, TV, and orchestral scoring.

Included Presets:

Viola Martelé – A bold, percussive bowing style with three round robins per note, perfect for dramatic and articulate passages.

Viola Pizzicato – Crisp and resonant plucks with three round robins per note, ideal for rhythmic textures and delicate motifs.

Viola Sordino Sustain – A soft, muted tone using a con sordino technique, perfect for intimate and atmospheric scoring.

Viola Sul Ponticello Sustain – A shimmering, overtone-rich sustain played near the bridge, ideal for eerie and tense textures.

Viola Sul Tast Sustain – A gentle, ethereal sustain played over the fingerboard, creating a warm, flute-like tone.

Viola Sustain – A rich, full-bodied viola sustain, great for expressive melodies and orchestral layering.

Viola Tremolo – Rapid bowing for a dramatic, shimmering effect, adding depth and suspense to compositions.

The Soundbox interface makes it easy to shape your sound. Each layer is fully adjustable with ADSR, effects, modulation, arpeggiator, and a versatile vector pad for morphing through layers with various vector shapes. Plus, you can quickly tweak volume, panning, and solo/mute layers on the main page, giving you total control to sculpt the soundscapes to suit your project. Once you've perfected your setup, save your unique presets using the intuitive and easy to use browser.

Adding new packs to Soundbox is a breeze! Head to the User Sounds menu, enter the preset and pack manager, click Import, and select the downloaded Soundbox Pack (.sbpack file) and you're done!

Important: Kompose Audio Soundbox packs work fully with the Soundbox player, except for the Sample & Mapping editor, which is for importing and editing your own sounds. To unlock this feature, enter the license key from any Audiomodern Soundbox instrument in the settings tab. Once unlocked, it stays active forever and includes free lifetime updates.

MPE & Multi-touch demonstration

Soundbox supports MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) and is also Multi-touch enabled, making it one of the very few audio samplers offering both MPE and full multi-touch support.

Intense !

I am completely won over by the quality of Kompose Audio products. The carefully crafted sounds transport you directly to timeless worlds.

And to complete this world, certain plugins, including this one, bring you back down to earth with breathtaking realism. I ran out to buy this latest little gem "Symphonic Viola" and I'm not disappointed, the viola seems so realistic. They've already been integrated into one of my latest tracks.

Simply fantastic

This is one excellent expansion pack… can’t wait for the violin and cello versions. Though hope you can place more emphasis on the legato articulations. Here’s a great suggestion, a string expansion a là Henry Manci , Ella Fitzgerald style vintage string sections. A nylon guitar expansion pack. And of course middle eastern expansion pack.

Exquisite sounds from a lightweight library

Though the installation size is amazingly small for this virtual instrument, the sounds are superb. This is not massively deep sampling. Instead, the SoundBox sampler allows Kompose to layer in the sounds of the viola from various perspectives (close, far, etc.) in a way that results in a magnificent little orchestral string gem.
