Introducing The Sound Designers Collective

Over the past few years, Kompose Audio has grown from a small idea into a community of thousands of musicians, composers and producers around the world. Along the way, we've had the privilege of connecting with some incredibly talented sound designers, each bringing their own creative vision and unique approach to creating virtual instruments.

That led us to ask a simple question...

What if there was a place where independent sound designers could focus on what they do best - creating inspiring instruments - while having a simple, transparent platform to share their work with musicians across the world?

That idea has become The Sound Designers Collective.

A Home for Independent Sound Designers

The Sound Designers Collective is a new initiative from Kompose Audio, created to give independent sound designers and virtual instrument developers an opportunity to release their work through an established platform without unnecessary complexity.

Our goal is simple: to provide a straightforward and transparent way for talented creators to bring their virtual instruments to market while reaching a growing community of composers, producers and musicians.

Every release remains true to the creative vision of its designer. At Kompose Audio, we provide the platform, storefront, marketing, customer support and product delivery, allowing our collaborators to spend more time creating and less time managing everything else.

Every member of The Sound Designers Collective has their own dedicated portfolio page on the Kompose Audio website, providing a place to showcase their work, tell their story and build their presence within the community. Collaborators are also given access to a secure online dashboard where they can track sales in real time, view previous and upcoming royalty payments, and access everything they need in one place.

We believe there are many talented developers creating remarkable virtual instruments that deserve to be discovered, and we hope The Sound Designers Collective becomes a place where those creators can grow alongside a supportive community of musicians.

Our First Release - Dark Matter by James Powley

Every new journey has to begin somewhere, and we're delighted that the very first Sound Designers Collective release is Dark Matter by James Powley.

James is an accomplished film composer and sound designer whose work combines a passion for cinematic storytelling with a fascination for synthesis and atmospheric sound design. Inspired by the mystery of deep space, Dark Matter explores haunting textures, evolving pads and rich cinematic soundscapes that invite musicians to venture into the unknown.

Every preset has been carefully crafted from samples of James's own synthesizer, resulting in an expressive collection of sounds that feels both organic and otherworldly.

Dark Matter perfectly represents what we hope The Sound Designers Collective will become - a home for distinctive virtual instruments created by passionate people, each bringing something fresh and unique to the Kompose Audio catalogue.

Looking to the Future

Dark Matter is just the beginning.

Over the coming months, we hope to welcome more sound designers into the Collective, each bringing their own musical influences, recording techniques and creative ideas. Whether that's cinematic textures, experimental sound design, acoustic recordings or something completely unexpected, we want every release to feel like a new discovery.

Rather than building a catalogue of similar products, our aim is to celebrate originality by giving every designer the opportunity to share their own creative voice.
